Waka Ama

WAKA AMA

This year we are proposing to put forward 4 teams in our Waka Ama Club.

  • Junior Boys U16
  • Junior Girls U16
  • Senior Boys U19
  • Senior Girls U19

Our coach’s and support crew for this club are Matua Ricki Minhinnick, Matua Selwyn Herewini, Whaea Shelley Thompson and Whaea Piki Jakeman.

Trainings:

Trainings will start on Tuesday 11th February 2020 at the Elbow, Waikato River.  We have vans leaving the College front gate at about 3.25pm for each training day and returning to the same location no later than 7.30pm. Trainings are scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday each week.

Parents are encouraged to come support and we would be grateful if you are able to provide additional transport from time to time when needed. If you are available to help drive a College ban please contact the Team Manager.

Fees:

Cost to belong to this club is $20 per student for trainings, this covers equipment use.

For students selected to attend Waka Ama Nationals an additional cost of $150 (TBC) is required.

 

Our main aim is to have these teams ready to compete at the New Zealand SS Waka Ama Champs which are held at Lake Tikitapu, Rotorua.

Dates: Sunday 29th March till Friday 3rd April 2020

We will be staying at the Tunohopu Marae, Ohinemotu, Rotorua

Fundraising:

Students will be asked to support fundraiser activities during the term. If students and whanau are able to support the Waka Ama Team with addidtional fundraising ideas then please contact the Team Manager.
