BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Information 2023

All Year Levels

Students are required to have a device that is/has:

Windows laptops, Windows tablets, Apple laptops, iPads and Chromebooks.

BYOD Options 2023

 

Windows

Windows 10 or 11 version Home, Education, Pro or Enterprise.

DO NOT SETUP WINDOWS LAPTOPS IF YOUR HAVING THE SCHOOL inTune THEM – LEAVE IN THE OOBE STATE

Device set up: In the past we have required students to bring in their devices for set up. This is now OPTIONAL.

If you are wanting to get a free set up, then your device needs to be dropped into the College Library from Monday 16th-27th  January 2023 – Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm.

Please Note: Devices setup with the schools inTune system will provide a consistent reliable solution throughout their college years.

If you chose NOT to use the College set up, then IT support cannot be provided to your student, you will also be required to provide your own Antivirus Software.  Any Windows device dropped off for setup that has been previously setup, it will be wiped to enrol it in our inTune System, please ensure all files have been backed up prior to drop off.

Students are admins of their own devices, If you do not want your student to have admin rights on their inTuned device, please inform us when dropping off device.  You can have a personal accounts added to the device once inTuned.

  • Minimum 12.2 inch screen.
  • Has at least 6‐8 hours battery life.
  • Recommendation 8GB of RAM.
  • Recommendation an SSD or NVMe 256GB or greater.
  • Recommendation Intel i5 10th Gen or higher processors, AMD Ryzen 5 or higher processors.
  • All Windows devices must support TPM version 2 if they intend to run or later upgrade to Windows 11.
  • Recommendation – A laptop bag, sleeve or hard shell case.

Examples of Windows Based devices that meet our recommendations

Anti-Virus will be provided for school inTuned devices.

Microsoft Office 365/apps with 1Tb Cloud Storage will be provided, do not purchase.


Apple Mac

  • Mac OS Version 12 or higher.
  • Please ensure the device has received all its updates and has an Apple ID signed in and Find My is configured.
  • M1 or M2 series processor – Battery life unbeatable – represented 44% of all 2021 Year 9 laptops.
  • Recommendation – A laptop bag, sleeve or hard shell case.

Apple iPad

  • iOS Version 14 or higher.
  • Please ensure the device has received all its updates and has an Apple ID signed in and Find My is configured.
  • Recommendation – iPad 7th Generation and above that support iOS14
  • Recommendation – the use of a Keyboard/Case with iPads

Chromebooks

  • Minimum 4gb ram
  • Recommended 32gb Storage

Examples  Chromebooks

Microsoft Office 365 links will be available via Google Chrome on the schools intranet.  1tb Cloud Storage will be provided, do not purchase Microsoft Office 365.

Note: Chromebooks may not be suitable in some senior subjects, where laptops with support of applications are used e.g Adobe Creative Cloud.
